A digital adaptation of the children’s book Duck, Death and the Tulip (Wolf Erlbruch, Gecko Press) for iPad.

The main concerns for the project were around preserving the tactility and subtlety of the book, while making still taking advantage of the new medium’s potential.

Kinematic accelerometer-driven animations, and the procedurally-generated “seeping” image transitions provide a digital flourish, while respecting the sensitive and slow-paced nature of the story. They also maintain strong ties tothe book’s original physical form and tactile illustrations.
